DORIS McLAIN GRANT

Doris Jean McLain Grant, age 79, of La Grande, died Saturday, October 11, 2003 after a short illness. At her request there will be no public services.

Doris was born in La Grande on October 16, 1923, to A.H. McLain and Amy Hulse McLain. She graduated from La Grande High School and attended the University of Oregon. She later married Kenneth K. Grant who preceded her in death on December 26, 1994.

La Grande residents will remember that Doris and Kenneth Grant managed the La Grande theaters for many years. They also owned and operated their own photography studio and developing service. She was an avid reader.

Doris is survived by her sisters and brother, Joyce McLain Bak of Yakima, Washington, Laura McLain Hayse of Baker City, David McLain of La Grande; many nieces and nephews and friends. Her compassionate and caring spirit will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
