Doris I. Davidson

May 23, 1912 — April 7, 2005

Doris I. Davidson, age 92, of Milton-Freewater and formerly of La Grande, died April 7, 2005 in Walla Walla. At her request there will be no funeral. Burial will be at the Helix Cemetery.

Mrs. Davidson was born May 23, 1912 to Lawrence and Pearl Spencer Countryman in Webster, S.D. She graduated from high school in Ipswich, S.D. in 1930 and began nurse's training. She served as a missionary nurse in Africa for two years and served in the Army Nurses Corp during World War II, reaching the rank of captain. On June 14, 1959 she married Lloyd A. Davidson in Yakima, Washington. The couple lived in La Grande where they helped with the Gideon Auxiliary. She worked as a nurse in various places until her retirement in 1973, and after her husband's death in 1988 she moved back to Milton-Freewater. She enjoyed gardening and walking with friends. She was a devout Christian and will be remembered for her infectious laugh and her sense of humor.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Patty Amptman, Carol Moore, Georgia Dentel, Wayne Mack and Dennis Countryman, Jr.
