Doris Lillian Van Blokland, age 91, of La Grande, died Friday, November 1, 2002 at her home.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Private interment will be held later.
Mrs. Van Blokland was born on July 29, 1911, the daughter of Elmer and Myrtle May (Williams) Cade in La Grande. She graduated from La Grande High School. On September 17, 1933 she married Lester Van Blokland in La Grande. She worked as office manager for Dr. Treve Lumsden until her retirement in the late 1970's.
The Van Blokland's were Charter Members and very active with the Farm Bureau. Mrs. Van Blokland was also an active member of the La Grande Country Club, playing golf and bridge. She traveled extensively and had walked the Great Wall of China.
Survivors include her grandsons, Terry Watne of Albany, Oregon and Lonny Watne of St. Lucia, West Indies; great grandchildren, Kyle, Kurt, Scott, Jamie and Aaron Watne; great great granddaughter, Jasmine Watne; sisters, Justine Parks of Union, Mildred Liebman of Vancouver, Washington and Ellagene Metzker of Oregon City; brother, Elmer A. Cade of Florida; and other relatives and friends. Her husband, Lester, preceded her in death as well as her daughter, Beverly Brannen.
