Dora Ellen Ritter, 85, of La Grande, died July 12. Her funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Loveland Funeral Chapel. A visitation for family and friends will run from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Loveland Chapel.

Dora was born Dec. 22, 1924, to James A. and Cecil R. Myers Jones at North Powder. She attended North Powder High School where she played the trumpet in the band. After graduating from high school, she moved to La Grande where she worked for Wards and Penneys. On Jan. 8, 1949, she married Charles Ritter in Boise. Dora was a 40-year member of the Eagles Auxiliary and a member of the North Powder Methodist Church.

Dora loved doing ceramics and when her arthritis got worse, she did knitting and crocheting to keep her fingers active. She enjoyed flower gardening and camping, but her greatest love was spending time with the family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dora is survived by her husband, Charles; two sons, Bob Dalton of Island City and Craig and his wife, Connie Ritter, of Milton-Freewater; daughter, Jana and her husband, Randy Shenfield, of La Grande; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David "Bud" Jones; and sisters, Doris Fugel, Dorothy Pearson and Ethel Stewart.
