Donna Elizabeth Cater, age 93, of La Grande, died Friday, October 3, 2003 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. At her request there will be no public services. Private burial will be held at the Island City Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Cater was born on January 14, 1910, the daughter of William and Cora (Hummell) Sneary in New Philadelphia, Ohio. After graduating from high school she attended Business College. In 1933 she married Robert Everett. The marriage later ended in divorce and in 1948 she moved from Ohio to La Grande. In 1954 she married Charles Cater and she was his legal secretary until his retirement.
Mrs. Cater was a member of the La Grande Country Club and several bridge clubs. She loved working crossword puzzles every day and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Cater of La Grande; children, David Everett of King City, Oregon and Patricia Bagley of Roseville, California; seven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Brothers, Chester and Donald Sneary and sisters, Freda Gowins and Maidie Walcott preceded her in death.
