Donald Keith Shelton, age 82, of Salem and formerly of La Grande, died October 13, 2003.
Mr. Shelton was born May 22, 1921, to Albert Lucien and Augusta Sue Shelton in Condon. He attended school in La Grande where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Oregon and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war he graduated from Eastern Oregon College (now Eastern Oregon University) and earned both a master's degree and a doctorate in education from the University of Oregon.
He worked as a school principal in Eugene and in Newport, was superintendent of Hood River County Schools and from the mid-1960's until he retired in 1979. He was the director of the Oregon community College Association
Survivors include his wife, June of Salem; children, Janis McNair of Pt. Richmond, California, Steven Shelton of Anchorage, Alaska and Dana Fitzpatrick of McMinnville; six grandchildren and a brother, Jim Shelton of Turner
