Donald J. Hodney

January 24, 1934 — October 31, 2004

Donald J. Hodney, age 70, of Warrenton died October 31, 2004 in Astoria. A graveside service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday at West Lawn Memorial Park, 225 S. Danebo Avenue, Eugene, with the Rev. Kate Conolly officiating.

Mr. Hodney was born January 24, 1934 to Andrew and Violet Dickson Hodney in Homedale, Idaho. He graduated from McMinnville High School in 1951 and married Delores Fackler on November 15, 1953 in Yamhill. He worked as a sawyer and a transport driver for Farmers' Cooperative Creamery. The couple lived in Elgin for a year where she served as pastor. He did repair work on the churches where his wife was pastor and he also painted houses.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Fisherman's Benefit Association, and worked with Habitat for Humanity and Warrenton Senior Meals. He was named senior volunteer of the year in Warrenton. He enjoyed landscaping, sports, coaching Little League and girls' softball, playing sports and being with his family.

Survivors include his wife of Warrenton; sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Heather Hodney of Albany and Don and Kelly Hodney of Hermiston; five grandchildren; siblings and their spouses, Beverly and Jim Huber of Dallas, Viola Wilgers of Heppner, Janet Sterett and Dorothy Frost, both of Vancouver, Washington, Adell Hodney of Eugene and Pat Gould of Annapolis, Maryland and other relatives. Two brothers, Ken and Andrew Hodney and two sisters, Shirley and Dorothy Hodney died earlier.
