Donald D. Hatfield

February 20, 1944 — March 25, 2009

Donald D. Hatfield Sr., 65, of Spokane Valley and formerly of Elgin, died unexpectedly March 25 at his home. At Donald's request, no services will be held. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Donald was born Feb. 20, 1944. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad in various capacities for 42 years. He was an enthusiastic member of the Spokane Seahawkers and the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, reading and time spent at the family cabin where he loved to sit and watch the birds.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Lorraine Hatfield; son, Don Jr. and his wife, Therena of Spokane; daughter, Shannon Gonzales-Burns of Lancaster, Calif.; six grandchildren; one newborn great-granddaughter; sister, Elizabeth and her husband, Loren Carson of Dayton, Wash., and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Ruth (Rayburn) Hatfield; and brother, Jerry Hatfield.
