Donald Emery Estes

Donald Emery Estes, age 62, of La Grande and formerly of Elgin, died January 21, 2016 at his home in La Grande. At his request there will be no public service. Final interment will be at the Island City Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

Donald was born on June 3, 1953, the son of Joe Don and Florence 'Betty' (Emery) Estes in La Grande, Oregon. He graduated from Elgin High School. in 1977 he married Lisa Krueger. He worked in retail management for Fred Meyer and then Wal-Mart in Washington and California. He returned to Oregon in 2008. His wife preceded him in death in 2010. He was an outdoorsman, an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved playing cribbage, cards and golf.

Survivors include his sons, Kevin Estes of Pearl City, Hawaii and Brandon Estes of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren James and Jonathan Estes; and other relatives and friends.
