Diana Lee Malone

Diana Lee Malone, 60, of La Grande, died Jan. 1 at a hospital in Portland. A recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at Loveland Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.

Diana was born March 27, 1949, to Beverly Graybeal Kerr and Leroy Bushman in La Grande. Diana attended grade school in a one-room school house in Gibbon. She then went on to high school and graduated from Athena High in 1967.

In school she was a member of the track team, powder puff football and pep club. She then attended Blue Mountain Community College where she was a member of the track team and received her associate's degree in 1969.

Diana loved horses. Growing up she loved to trick ride. She lived next to the railroad tracks and would race the engineers as they passed by.

Diana married Steve Malone Jan. 30, 1970. They had three children, Cristy, Ryan and Chelsea.

Diana was involved with her church community and enjoyed her friends there. She loved reading. Her children were involved in many extracurricular activities and athletics, and she never missed one game or event. Those who knew Diana said she couldn't have been more proud of her two grandchildren whom she loved cuddling and playing with.

Diana is survived by her parents, Leroy and Beverly Bushman of Lower Perry; husband, Steve Malone of La Grande; children, Cristy Miller of La Grande, Ryan Malone of La Grande and Chelsea Musgrove of La Grande; two grandchildren; siblings; Julie Alexander of Mission, Jeff Bushman of Summerville and Steven Bushman of Helix. Diana was preceded in death by her infant sister, Lara Anne Bushman.
