Dewey G. Flowers, 66, of Star, Idaho and formerly of La Grande died Saturday June 25, 2005 after a long illness. Viewing will be from 4 to 8 pm Thursday at Loveland funeral Chapel. The funeral will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church, 901 Penn Avenue. A graveside service will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Baker City.
Mr. Flowers was born September 29, 1938 to Dewey G. and Ardes I. Reagan Flowers in BAker City. He earned the Eagle Scout award and attended the national Eagle Scout convention as a representative in 1953. He was the firs drum major for the Elks Drum and Bugle Corp and was a member of the Baker City Elks Lodge for 43 years. He attended Eastern Oregon University and in 1959 married Mardene Estes. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 37 years and retired in 1994. He later married Janice Conklin in August 1997 and moved to Star, Idaho. He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing and staying at the cabin he shared with his son.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Don and Brenda Flowers of La Grande, Jani and Duane McLaughlin of Island City and Michelle and Kenny Wells of Bloomington, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Winnifred Ward of La Grande, Virginia and Richard Foster and Beverly and Art Klingman, all of Portland, and Ferriel and Paul Gregory of Salem and other relatives.
Memorials may be made to Doernbecher's Children's Hospital.
