Denver Ogden, age 68, of La Grande, died December 28, 2004 at Oregon Health Sciences University of natural causes. Viewing will be from 9am to noon on Monday at Loveland Funeral Chapel. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Cove Methodist Church with Pastor Elmer Yoder officiating. Burial will follow at the Cove Cemetery.
Mr. Ogden was born on January 8, 1936, to Wallace and Twila Williams Ogden in Clearfield, Penn. He joined the Air Force in 1955 and in 1963 he married Adarene Conrad in Cove. After 10 years in the Air Force he enlisted in the Navy and retired in 1975. He worked as a custodian at an elementary school in Unity and in 1977 moved to La Grande where he worked for the school district. He retired after 20 years. He enjoyed sharing his love of history with the students at Willow Elementary School. Children came to him to have their shoes tied or get their glasses fixed. After he retired he returned to the school dressed in his Navy uniform to demonstrate how to fold the American flag. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed riding motorcycles, reading and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of La Grande; children, Sherman and Amy Ogden of La Grande and Eugene Ogden of Richland, Washington; a sister, Peggy Pearson of Springville, N.Y. and four grandchildren.
