Delda Gray Smith, age 90, of La Grande, died Friday at a local care facility.
At her request there will be no public service. A private interment will be at the Summerville Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born on October 30, 1915 at Lower Cove, the daughter of Nathan and Ada (Houx) Gray. She attended school in La Grande and graduated with the class of 1933. She also attended a year of Business College. On August 10, 1936 she married Robert "Bob" Smith in Pendleton, Oregon. He preceded her in death in 1971.
Mrs. Smith spent most of her life in the Grande Ronde Valley. She worked for both Perkins Motor Companies for many years as their bookkeeper. She also worked for Bob Goss at Gateway Auto for five years as his bookkeeper and office manager. Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church and loved the mountains where she hunted elk and deer, went fishing and gathered huckleberries.
Survivors include her brother and sisters-in-law, Aldon and Dixie Gray of Union; sister-in-law, Lillian Gray of Eugene; nephews, Bryan Gray of Meridan and Robert Blomberg of Portland; nieces, Judy Johnson of California; Nancy Findeisen of San Diego and Laura Dodds of Union; and other relatives and friends.
