Delbert Bud Sanderson

November 4, 1921 — July 29, 2003

Delbert (Bud) Sanderson, age 81, of La Grande, died Monday, July 28, 2003 at a care facility in Pendleton, Oregon.

Bud was born on November 4, 1921, the son of Charles and Adelia (Rogers) Sanderson in Hermiston, Oregon. On January 8, 1941 he married Kathleen (Blackman) in Weiser, Idaho. They made their home in La Grande where Bud worked as a brakeman on the Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1981. Bud was an avid hunter and fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed listening to music, especially his wife's music. Bud served in the Navy where he spent two years in the South Pacific during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Sanderson of La Grande; daughters; Judith Kleng of La Grande, Deleen Wyland of Summerville, son; Michael Sanderson of Ocean Shores, Washington; eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren ,one great-great grandchild; sisters; Doris Lilly and Marion Hilary of La Grande, Janet Everitt of Nampa, Idaho, and one brother; Clinton Sanderson of Anacortes, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Don Sanderson and a sister, Lois Hicks.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the La Grande Eagles Lodge at 1212 Jefferson with Sally Wiens officiating. There will be a potluck for family and friends following the ceremony at the Eagles Lodge.
