Delbert Arthur "Buz" Mccanse

Delbert Arthur "Buz" McCanse Jr., 75, of Benton City, Wash., and formerly of North Powder died Feb. 12 a a care center. A future memorial service will be announced on the Web at www.einansfuneral-home.com .

Mr. McCanse was born Feb. 16, 1928, to Delbert and Bernice McCanse in Metropolis, Nev., and raised on a farm near North Powder. He attended college and served in the Marine Corps. In 1955 he married Colleen Dewitt, and worked at various times for the railroad and as a fruit farmer.

He retired from Fluor-Daniel at Hanford after 38 years as a power operator.

He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing, rock hunting, camping, reading, taking a daily walk, gardening and visiting with his friends and family.

He was a man of few words but a practical joker, and passed on his sense of humor to his kids.

Survivors include his wife of Benton City; children, Terrie McCanse and Carol McCanse, both of Benton City, Reed McCanse of Olympia, Wash., and Buzzy McCanse of Richland, Wash.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and seven sisters, Sheila Ascherl of Snohomish, Wash., Maryalice McClure of Ukiah, Calif., Barbara Wesbey of Sherwood, Phyllis Crawley of Fruitland, Idaho, Betty Gray of Union, Judy Marr of Baker City and Denise Clarke of Crystal Brook, Australia. An eighth sister, Olive Stiff of Arizona, died earlier.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House or the American Parkinson's Disease association in care of Einan's Funeral Home, 915 Bypass Highway, Richland, Wash. 99352.
