Deborah Vera Cleveland

Deborah Vera Cleveland, age 60, of La Grande, died August 16, 2013 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 23. 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.

Debby was born on June 30, 1953, the daughter of Harold and Inez (Ambel) Beickel in La Grande. She graduated from La Grande High School with the class of 1971 and on January 25, 1972 she married Robert Cleveland in Walla Walla, Washington. They lived for a short time in Medford and Pendleton before returning to La Grande in February of 1973. She taught piano out of their home from 1976 until 1998. She also was the organist for St. Peter's Episcopal Church for ten years. She loved music and spending time with family, especially the little ones. She enjoyed camping and always provided popsicles for the children no matter what time of year it was.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Cleveland of La Grande; sister, Teresa Collins of Umatilla; brother Greg Beickel of Clackamas; grandchildren, Zoe and Gil Cleveland; and numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Cleveland in 2006.

In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation in care of Daniels~Knopp.
