David John Walker

David John Walker, age 51, of La Grande, died Monday, November 26, 2007 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

David was born on October 4, 1956, the son of David Lee and Betty (Belk) Walker in Cottage Grove, Oregon where he was raised. He later moved to Southern California where he worked at a carpet cleaning company with his cousin, Glenn Matthews, until opening his own business. He returned to La Grande where he continued in the carpet cleaning business before working for Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center. He later worked for New Day Enterprises, which he was currently doing at the time of his death. He loved football and NASCAR and watched them all the time. The Denver Broncos were his favorite team and he never missed a game.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Walker of La Grande; son, David John Walker, Jr. of Simi Valley, California; siblings, Linda and James Hermann of Washugal, Washington, Rodney Walker of La Grande, Michael Walker of Vancouver, Washington, Ken Walker of La Grande and Barbara and Richard Burton of Elk River, Minnesota; nieces and nephews, Candace Walker, Kayla, Steven, Treavor and Tanner Johnson, Shawna and Erin Smith, Jessica and Kimberly Hermann, Jenny and Jacob Burton and Amanda Sorenson; aunt Arlene, Uncle Gary and Ella Walker and great aunt Joyce and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.
