David Lee Walker

David Lee Walker, age 67, of La Grande, died June 26, 2003 at his home.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Private interment will be held at the Island City Cemetery.

Mr. Walker was born on July 22, 1935, the son of John and Evelyn Lundeen (Tyrrel) Walker in Cottage Grove, Oregon. In 1956 he married Betty Belk in Reno, Nevada. He worked for UPS as a feeder driver for 20 years until his retirement. They traveled to many places including Texas, Alabama, Hawaii and Disneyland many times. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping with his family and loved to dance. He adored his grandchildren and loved being "papa" to the youngest.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of La Grande; children, David John Walker of Portland, Linda and James Hermann of Vancouver, Washington, Rodney Lee Walker of La Grande, Michael Wayne Walker of Aberdeen, Washington, Kenneth James Walker of La Grande and Barbara Jean and Richard Burton of Troutdale; grandchildren, David John Walker, Jr. of Simi Valley, California, Jessica Lynn and Kimberly Anne Hermann of Vancouver, Washington, Shawna and Aaron Smith of Hermiston, Amanda Walker of La Grande, Candice Walker of Portland and Jennifer Chantelle Marie Burton of Troutdale; sister, Arlene Hildenbrand of Creswell; brother, Gary Walker of Cottage Grove; aunt, Joyce Bates of Eugene; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. His parents and brothers, John T., Darrel and Kenneth, preceded him in death.
