David Calvin Hansell

March 6, 1957 — September 11, 2005

David Calvin Hansell, 48, of Seattle and formerly of La Grande, died Sept. 11 at his home after a long illness.

A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday Sept. 17 at the New Life Center, 10700 Walton Road, with Pastor Gary Hood of the Crossroads Community Church officiating.

Mr. Hansell was born March 6, 1957, to Del and Teen Hansell in La Grande. He graduated from La Grande High School in 1975, and worked at a number of jobs before moving to Seattle.

He raised Great Danes and pug show dogs and was a member and past president of the Great Dane Club of Western Washington, and the Gig Harbor Kennel Club. His family thought of him as a philosopher and analyzer.

Survivors include his companion, Mike Coffman of Seattle; his mother of Grande; siblings, Mike Hansell and Patti Nagy, both of La Grande, Scott and Cheryl Hansell of Albany, Betty Owen of Sonora, Calif., and Ginny Lambert of Las Vegas. His father and a brother, Wally, died earlier.
