David M. Delashmutt

January 23, 1917 — April 11, 2005

David M. DeLashmutt, age 88, of Union, died April 11, 2005 at his home. A celebration of life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Loveland Funeral Chapel, followed by a family dinner hosted by the VFW Auxiliary. Charles DeLashmutt will give the eulogy and the Union VFW will participate.

Mr. DeLashmutt was born January 23, 1917, to George Elzzy and Loretta Fulwider DeLashmutt in Clyde Park, Montana. He attended schools in Pendleton and La Grande, and served in the Navy during World War II. In 1946 he married Mary Irene Kilpatrick in De Funiak Spring, Florida. They lived in La Grande and had a ranch. After a divorce he married Margaret Logan in 1962 in Buhl, Idaho. They also divorced. Later in life he moved to Reno, Nevada and became a chef. After retiring he moved to Union. He enjoyed gardening, astronomy, homeopathic remedies, tinkering and volunteering. He was active in community affairs.

Survivors include children and their spouses, Charles and Sheila DeLashmutt of Woodstock, Georgia and Dianna and Bryan Hurd of Yuba City, California; siblings, Joseph DeLashmutt of Gooding, Idaho, William DeLashmutt of Island City, Walter DeLashmutt of Oak Harbor, Washington, Mary Lou DeLashmutt and Lora Jane Welk, both of Apple Valley, California and Lois Rogers of La Grande; four grandchildren and one great grandson. Memorial may be made to the Union VFW.
