David Ryan Bowdle, 37, of Soap Lake, Wash., and formerly of La Grande, died July 30 at home surrounded by his family and friends after a 15 1/2-year battle with lymphedema. Memorial services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bread of Life Church, 140 14th Ave. N.W. in Ephrata, Wash.

David was born July 12, 1973, to Ralph and Susan (VanAucker)Bowdle in La Grande.
David served in Demolay and several local bands. He was a huge fan of music and played guitar and drums. He graduated from Big Bend Community College and attended the University of Washington.
During his education, he had two cells named after him - a dinosaur and an antelope cell. He spoke to the 89th Congress of Worldwide Paleontologists in Kalispell, Mont.
He is survived by his parents, Ralph and Sue Bowdle of Soap Lake, Wash.
