Darrell Lee Rysdam

June 6, 1932 — September 17, 2006

Darrell Lee Rysdam, age 74, a lifetime resident of Elgin, died Sunday morning, September 17, 2006 at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elgin Stampede Hall.

Mr. Rysdam was born on June 6, 1932, the son of Albert and Mildred (Henningsen) Rysdam at Cricket Flat in Elgin. He was raised and educated in Elgin and on June 14, 1953 he married Norma DeLong in Elgin.

Mr. Rysdam was a longtime member of the Elgin Stampeders. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved horses and horse racing. He broke and trained many horses in his lifetime. His greatest joy in life was wife, family and his ranch.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Rysdam; children, Jerry and Stanna Rysdam , Jan and Rex Thompson and Joni and Jim Cant; mother-in-law, Orpha Plett, all of Elgin; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
