Darrell Francis Gorham

Darrell Francis Gorham, age 64, of La Grande, died September 27, 2009 at his home. A celebration of his life will be held at the Summerville Baptist Church on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m, community potluck to follow at The Oddfellows Hall in Summerville.


Mr. Gorham was born on May 25, 1945, the son of Orvan and Dorothy (DuMont) Gorham in Baker City, Oregon. He graduated from Imbler High School and on November 6, 1964 he married Tanja Hills in Weiser, Idaho. He worked for Boise Cascade particle board plant until he retired in 1993 as a result of a disability caused by Multiple Sclerosis.


Mr. Gorham was a member of the Imbler Christian Church for 25 years and the local MS Support Group. He enjoyed snowmobiling, golf, camping, family reunions and watching his sons and then grandsons in their activities and sports.


Survivors include his wife, Tanja of La Grande; sons and their families, Todd and Wendy of La Grande, Scott and Donna of Kennewick, James and Lisa of La Grande and Jason and Angela of Cove; grandchildren, SPC Adam Gorham, currently deployed in Iraq with the 41st Brigade Combat Team, Seth Gorham, Luke Gorham, Brant Gorham, Owen Gorham, Cade Gorham, PFC Ashley Gorham, USMC, 29 Palms, California and Natalie Gorham; mother, Dorothy Gorham of Richland, Washington; brother and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Judy Gorham of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Weldon and Janet Gorham of Richland, Washington, Merrill and Kathy Gorham of La Grande and Mark and Leslie Gorham of Eugene; parents-in-law, Roy and DeLeva Hills of Island City and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father,Orvan Gorham, grandparents, Arthur and Vella Gorham and Tony and Ella DuMont.
