Daniel Paul Berg

November 19, 1915 — October 25, 2003

Daniel Paul Berg, Sr. age 87, of La Grande, died Saturday, October 25, 2003, at a local care facility. At his request there will be no public services. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Berg was born on November 19, 1915, the son of Charles and Alice (Adey) Berg on Robbs Hill, near Perry, Oregon. On November 17, 1940 he married Mary Christiansen in Walla Walla, Washington. They lived in Union County and in Washington State before permanently making their home in La Grande in the early 1950's. He worked as a Checker for Boise Cascade until his retirement in January of 1978. His wife preceded him in death in November of 1995.

Mr. Berg was an outdoorsman and had a passion for deer and elk hunting. He enjoyed camping, cutting firewood and fishing. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy in his life and they never failed to bring a smile to his face. He enjoyed playing old time western music on the violin in jam sessions with his brother and brother-in-law and also playing for his wife, Mary.

Survivors include his children, Daniel Berg, Jr. of La Grande and Julie Talor of Summerville; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Helen DeLano of Kennewick, Washington and other relatives and friends. Twin sons, Daniel and David and brother, Cecil Albert Berg, preceded him in death.
