Dan Cable, age 82, of Elgin, died at his home on March 5, 2004. By request no service will be held. Those who whish may make contributions in his memory to the Elgin Ambulance Fund or the GRH Hospice in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
Mr. Cable was born on January 13, 1922 to William and Janet Ray (Cooper) Cable in Weston, Oregon. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 stationed in Panama. He married Lois Marie Spencer in Lewiston, Idaho in 1946. They moved to Elgin in 1962 where he worked for Boise until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of Elgin; children, Daniel Cable of Elgin and Gloria Anthoney of Lacy, Washington; grandchildren, Shawn Anthoney of Independence, Oregon and Brandy Anthoney of Lacy, Washington; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Karen Cable of Milton-Freewater; brother-in-law and his wife, Wesley and Boots Churchill of Elgin. He was preceded in death by sisters, Jean Curry and Eunice Benzel and a brother, Vern Cable.
Life is a dream from which we all awaken one day. Left only are the memories of those who have yet to wake.
