Dale Stewart "Hippie" Blake, age 77, of Elgin passed away January 12, 2005 peacefully in his sleep at home with his wife and family and friends after a long battle with cancer. Viewing will be held on Friday, January 14, 2005 at Daniels Chapel of the Valley from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Family and friends are welcome to Dan & Vickie Reynolds home in Elgin for a remembrance of Dale Hippie Blake following the service.
Hippie was born in Hayward, California on July 18, 1928, the son of Earl and Madge (Rhoades) Blake. He served in the military and on May 21, 1949 he married Viola Rasmussen. "Hippie", as everyone knew him, was a man of many talents and opinions and could argue with the best of them. Hippie loved life and the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed mechanics and arguing and of course he believed he was always right. He also enjoyed taking his family and friends up in the hills hunting for mushrooms. "Rest in Peace" husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. You are truly loved and will be missed.
Hippie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Viola Blake of Elgin; daughters and sons-in-law, Madge and David Flower of Homer, Alaska, Vickie and Dan Reynolds of Elgin and Shirley and Gary of Elgin; grandchildren, Danette, Robbie, Vickie Rae, Heather Ann, Melissa and Franklin; great grandchildren, Stephen Paul, Mariah Lorraine, Mathew Paul, Alesia, Maranda, Marissa, Eugene, Winoa, Shad, Vanessa, Sarah, Geoffrin, Katlin, Ashley, Curtis, Gage, Stephen and Joseph Dale. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl, step-mom, Eileen, mother, Madge, granddaughter, Dale Ann, great grandson, Michael, brothers, Earl and Nelson, sister, Norma, grandfather, J.C. Blake and grandmother, Emily.
