D. Maxine Grace

D. Maxine Grace, age 69, of La Grande, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A funeral will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Island City. Private interment will be held at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center in La Grande.

Mrs. Grace was born on May 17, 1939, one of the fourteen children of Henry and Treva (Mills) Mannis in Dewitt, Arkansas. She loved being part of a large family. On June 15, 1958 she married Alvin Grace. She worked for Caron Yarn in Rochelle, Illinois for many years before they moved to La Grande in September of 1978. She worked for A&W, Hobo's, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Albertsons. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alvin, in 1990. She loved being a Mom and Grandmother and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Chuck and Debbie Duncan of Ohio, Deanna and Douglas Cox of Salem, Brad Grace and Dana Christy of Beaverton, Thad and Rebecca Grace of Lake Oswego and Niki and Shawn Risteen of La Grande; three grandsons; one granddaughter; five brothers and two sisters and other relatives and friends.
