Cole Anthony Krause, 27, of Salem and formerly of La Grande, died Dec. 11 at his home. A celebration of Cole's life will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at City View Funeral Home in Salem. A memorial service will begin at 5 p.m. Dec. 22 at First United Methodist Church in Pendleton.
Cole was born Feb. 23, 1983, to William Krause and Cynthia Russell in Wichita, Kan. He moved to La Grande in 1990 with his mother.
Those who knew Cole say he had a lot of friends and was charming and fun to be around. They say he loved helping people and often gave his last penny to help people who were homeless or in need. Family and friends say he loved children and loved to explore and travel. He loved campfires, joking and spending time outdoors.
Cole is survived by his partner, Trudy Moffett; two children; mother, Cynthia Russell of La Grande; and grandparents, Jessica Walker of Pendleton and Dean Filener of Wichita.
He was preceded in death by his father in December 1999.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Pendleton. The fund will be used to help homeless people.
