Cody Wyatt Williams, 22, of La Grande, died Aug. 13 at his parents' residence. A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Riverside Park Pavilion in La Grande. A potluck dinner will follow the service.
Cody was born Sept. 15, 1987, to David and Kimberly (Moody) Williams in Houston. He grew up in La Grande and graduated from La Grande High School, where he excelled at soccer and basketball.
He lived in Bend for a short time, attending school and working for a kite factory. Later he graduated from the Blue Mountain Academy for the Healing Arts and was employed at La Grande Post Acute Rehab (formerly Evergreen Health and Rehab) as a rehab aide. Cody was attending EOU to pursue a career as a physical therapist.
Cody had a special relationship with the elderly people he assisted at work. His employers consistently admired him for his strong work ethic.
Cody's favorite activities were playing paintball and Frisbee golf, riding his road bike, camping and hiking. He enjoyed gardening and wrote songs that he played on his guitar. He was interested in filmmaking, and his dream was to sail around the world in his own sailboat. His greatest love, however, was reserved for his family and his dear friends.
Survivors include his parents, David and Kimberly Williams of La Grande; sisters, Sara and Jessica, and her spouse, Rubin, all of La Grande; grandparents, Elvin and Phyllis Williams of Island City and Donna Moody of Smithville, Texas; one niece and a nephew on the way; aunts, uncles and numerous cousins; and his faithful dog, Rambo.
A memorial fund has been established to help the family with burial costs. Donations may be made through Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1508 Fourth St., La Grande.
