Clinton Alroy Rysdam

April 24, 1925 — October 24, 2004

Clinton Alroy Rysdam, age 79, formerly of Elgin, died Sunday, October 24, 2004 at a local care center. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley with Sally Wiens officiating.

Clinton Alroy Rysdam was born on April 24, 1925, the son of Garrett and Ethel (Baker) Rysdam in La Grande. He attended schools in Elgin where he played football and graduated with the class of 1942. Mr. Rysdam enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during World War II. After his honorable discharge, Clinton met and married Edith Warnstaff on November 5, 1946 in Elgin. They were later divorced. He fulfilled a childhood dream to be a mechanic and worked for M.J.Goss Motor Company for many years. Mr. Rysdam was a member of the American Legion and the Good Sam Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing poker, gardening, spending time in the mountains, old cars and most of all his children. He took great pride in teaching his children to hunt, fish, and drive.

Survivors include his children and their spouses; Robert and Linda Rysdam of La Grande; Cheryl and Roger Mack of Milwaukie, Oregon; Judy and Terry Hudgens of Clearfield, Iowa; Garrett Rysdam of The Dalles, Oregon and Jean Ann Wertman of Virginia; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Neva Trump of Elgin; Rosie Garroutte of Alaska; and Joann Andrews; and other relatives and friends. Two brothers, George and Marvin Rysdam died earlier.
