Clinton Shirley Clark

August 15, 1921 — January 26, 2010

Clinton Shirley Clark, age 88, of Elgin, died Tuesday in Walla Walla. A memorial graveside service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 29 at Elgin Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

Clinton was born on August 15, 1921, the son of Edward and Mary Francis (Mason) Clark in Elgin. He graduated from Elgin High School. He was married to Mary Margaret Johnson on February 9, 1946. During World War II he served with the United States Army. He worked many years delivering gas and oil for Ben Jordan and worked as a bus driver/custodian for the Elgin School District before working for the Oregon State Highway Dept and later for the Elgin Cemetery District. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing until his eye sight started failing him. He enjoyed family gatherings and telling stories and singing.

Survivors include his daughters, Shirley Kirk, Susan Rutherford and Marilyn Smyres; 6 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, daughter Joellen Didion, and grandsons Odene Kirk and Dustin Coulter.
