Clifford Dale Towle

December 30, 1929 — March 20, 2003

Clifford Dale Towle, age 73, a lifetime resident of Cove, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 at his home in Cove of a farming accident.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cove Methodist Church with The Rev. Jerry Peters officiating. Private interment will be held later at the Cove Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Towle was born on December 30, 1929, the son of Thomas and Dena (Lund) Towle in La Grande. He was raised in Cove and graduated from Cove High School with the class of 1948. He received a degree in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University and a Teaching Degree from Eastern Oregon University. He served as deputy clerk for the Cove School District until his retirement. He taught Junior High and High School in Cove from 1957 until 1989.

On July 13, 1952 he married Ardith Gorham at the Cove Methodist Church. They owned and operated a cherry orchard in Cove. Mr. Towle was a member of the Cove Methodist Church, the Cove Cherry Association, the Union County Soil Conservation Service, the Oregon Farm Bureau and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He loved the outdoors and hunting elk and moose. He also loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Ardith of Cove; children, Bruce and Diane Towle of Camas, Washington, Gary and Cathy Towle of Selah, Washington, Diane and Ron Warnock of Cove and Janice and Mike Stewart of Silverton; grandchildren, Traci Towle, Neal Towle, Jeff Towle, Michael Towle, Shayla Warnock and Kimber Warnock; sisters, Inez Yoder of Lexington, Kentucky and Anita Miller of Graham, Washington; and other relatives and friends. A sister, Verna Beeman preceded him in death.
