Clayton Mathew Eastwood, 51, formerly of La Grande, died July 17. A Dressing Ceremony was conducted Thursday at the Agency Longhouse in Mission, with Washat services planned for the evening. He was born April 7, 1959. Matt served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After the Army, Matt worked as a welder and an ironworker before settling back on the Umatilla Indian Reservation. He worked as security director of the Wildhorse Casino for a number of years.
He lived in La Grande for many years as a young man.
Matt loved time with his children. Some of his most cherished moments were spent at elk camp and Hells Canyon.
Matt is survived by his children; Lucas Eastwood, Nicholas Eastwood, Jeannie Mitchell, Travis Eastwood and Renee Blackhawk; grandchildren; his beloved companion, "Ranger Eastwood;" brothers, Gary Blackhawk, Tony Montoya and Glavis Wagner; sisters; Maria Montoya, Tina Montoya, Kinda Eastwood and Donna Eastwood; dad, Gene Eastwood, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Audry Blackhawk; and his grandmother, Mary Hines.
