Clarence Edward Lippert

Clarence Edward Lippert, 69, of Union, died March 13 at a local care center. Services will be held at a later date.

Clarence was born July 18, 1939, to Leo Lester and Ellen Lippert in Prairie City. He was educated in Ritter and Long Creek. He spent most of his childhood in logging camps and loved hunting, breaking horses and wildlife viewing.

He married Leah Chittiock Aug. 12, 1961, in Monument. He was a rancher by trade. He moved to La Grande 15 years ago from Shelby, Mont.

He is survived by his wife, Leah, of Union; mother, Ellen Heath of Pasco; children, Clarence "Bud" Jr. and his wife, Vickki Lippert, of Fredericksburg, Texas, Virginia Ellen and her husband, Dale Seevers of Green River, Wyo., Samuel Ray Lippert of Temple, Texas, and Douglas Wayne Lippert of Kalispel, Mont.; and sister, Clara F. and her husband, Wes Moran, of Pasco. He was preceded in death by his father and one son, John Lester.
