Clarence Neil Daniels, 82, formerly of La Grande, died Jan. 26 in Madison, Wis. Funeral services were held Jan. 29 in Madison.
Neil was born June 26, 1928, to William "Buck" and Helen (Denson) Daniels in Pendleton. He married Adeline Anderson Aug. 4, 1956, in Salem.
Neil graduated from La Grande High School in 1946 and from Oregon State University in 1953.
He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Yuma, Ariz., and Fort Churchill, Canada.
Neil worked as a surveyor, forest firefighter and bridge engineer for the Oregon Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.
He is survived by his wife; children, Michael (Laura) and Debra (David) Nelson; several grandchildren; and other family in Oregon and Washington.
Neil was preceded by his parents; sister, Barbara DeFries; niece, Nancy DeFries; and brothers-in-law, David Wilhyde and Gerald Biggins.
