Clara Ellen Collingwood

Clara Ellen Collingwood, age 83, of La Grande, died Thursday, July 28, 2005 at a local care facility. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley with Pastor Charlie Jones of Victory Christian Center officiating. Private interment will be held at the Grandview Cemetery.

Mrs. Collingwood was born on October 11, 1921, the daughter of Scott and Bertha Wood in Prairie City, Oregon. She graduated from high school in Prairie City and in 1940 she married William Wallace Collingwood in Chehalis, Washington. They ranched on Star Lane and she worked for DMcD Corp and Boise Cascade as a bookkeeper for many years. Her hobby was raising Arabian Horses and had professionals show her horses through the years. She was part of a women's bowling league for many years and attended St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She was an excellent seamstress and a good cook.

Survivors include her son, Tim Collingwood of La Grande; daughter, Flora Gettenburg of Idaho; brother, Leonard Wood of Prairie City; nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Her husband, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
