Christina Vanderpool

Christina Vanderpool, age 91, of La Grande, died May 24, 2009 at a care facility. No public services are planned currently but a graveside service will be held at a later date. Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the Oregon Lung Association, Emphysema Research in care of Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.

Mrs. Vanderpool was born on December 7, 1917, the daughter of Samuel Houston and Odie (Procter) Clevenger in Arkansas. On October 23, 1935 she married Ernest James Vanderpool in Missouri. In 1961 they made their way west to La Grande. She was a homemaker that truly enjoyed cooking until illness did not allow her to. She also collected cookbooks of all kinds.

Survivors include her children, Vi Vanderpool of La Grande, Theta LeVasseur of Lostine and Kenneth Vanderpool of La Grande; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
