Charles W. White, 77, of Ahsahka, Idaho, and formerly of Enterprise died March 17 at a care center. A graveside service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Enterprise Cemetery with Walt Klages officiating.
Mr. White was born Feb. 14, 1927, to William and DeMoise Carter White in Weleetka, Okla. He graduated from Enterprise High School in 1945, and served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He married Dorothy Klages in September 1946. After a divorce he married Cheryl Stamper in September 1976 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
He worked as a mechanic and welder in Salem and in Umatilla, where he served on the city council, with the police department and as an EMT. He worked at McNary Dam for the Corps of Engineers in the early 1970's, and later at the Dworshak Dam as a member of the first mechanic crew. He retired in 1982.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, playing his fiddle and guitar, and being with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of Ahsahka; children and their spouses, LaDonna and Dar King, and Karen Hill, all of Hermiston; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Dick Bain of Yuma, Ariz., and other relatives. A son, Ronald White, and two brothers, Glen and Donald White, all died earlier.
