Chuck passed away on Oct. 16, 2007 in Portland, Oregon. He was born in Oelwein, Iowa on Aug 26, 1937. He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn; his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two brothers.
Chuck lived a full life on his own terms. He was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. He will be remembered for his extreme love of all things outdoors. He was most at home deep in the woods, away from civilization, hunting or fishing. He loved a good laugh and a good meal, and was always game for a heated discussion about most any topic of which he was an "expert."
His favorite activities included camping trips with his sons, watching a good (or bad) western movie, reading books about history (or the Cabelas catalog), playing party-poker, sipping a cold Budweiser and wearing a broken-in pair of cowboy boots. He was devoted to his wife and family spending much time in his last years with a grandchild on his knee.
He and Carolyn had recently begun to enjoy retirement travels in their travel trailer. His sudden passing leaves a deep hole in the lives of his family and friends - he will be profoundly missed, never forgotten and his exploits will be re-lived over many a family dinner of campfire.
