Charles "Chuck" Dean Kirkpatrick, 72, of La Grande, died December 23, 2005. Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2005. Mr. Kirkpatrick was born February 19, 1933 in Woodlake, Nebraska to Albert W. and Lois L. Kirkpatrick and moved with his family to Enterprise as a child. He graduated from Enterprise High School in 1951 and was a member of the Oregon National Guard for nine years.
On May 30, 1954 he married Joan Alford of Joseph. They later had two children, Nancy and Robert. Following his divorce he married Patricia (Wicklander) Warnock on November 10, 1967. Until his retirement he spent most of his life working in construction and carpentry. That included construction of Interstate-84 overpasses and bridges and the onsite sets for the movie "Paint You Wagon". Since he retired, his favorite avocation was building furniture for his family and helping his family and friends with building and remodeling projects. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard sales, auctions, his dog, Tisha, and morning coffee with his friends at a local restaurant.
Mr. Kirkpatrick is survived by his sister, Retha of Joseph; his son, Robert, of Pullman, Washington; his daughter, Nancy Patten and her husband, Rod, of Wasco; six step-children, Debbie O' Rourke of La Grande, Steve Warnock of Spokane, Dan Warnock and his wife, Debbie of La Grande, Jackie Heller and her husband, Mike of Hermiston, Ron Warnock and his wife, Diane, of Cove and Barbara Dillow and her husband, Sam, of Glenwood City, Wisconsin; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, and his parents.
