Charles Marion Foland

July 12, 1915 — April 13, 2006

Charles Marion Foland, 90, of Salem and formerly of Alicel died April 13, 2006. The funeral will begin at 10:30 am Wednesday at the Hood View Church of God in Woodburn. Burial will be at Belle Passi Mausoleum. A memorial service will begin at 3 pm at Capitol Baptist Church in Salem.

Mr. Foland was born July 12, 1915, in Belgrade, Nebraska. He graduated from Fullerton Business College in Fullerton, California and married Vinita Marie Igo. They lived on a farm near Alicel where they lived until 1955 when they moved to Hubbard. HE worked for the McLaren School for Boys for 21 years. His wife died after 55 years of marriage and in October of 1995 he married Marie "Pat" Louise Higdon. He was known as the Toy Man for making wooden toys which he gave away.

Survivors include his wife of Salem; a sister-in-law, Ruth Igo Weaver of La Grande; children and their spouses, Joy Heighes and Elgin, Charles Lynn and Janice Foland of Baker City, Gloria and Bill Higdon of Salem; 15 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Willamette Valley Hospice in care of City View Funeral Home, 390 Hoyt St. S., Salem, Oregon 97302.
