Charles Michael Doherty

Charles Michael Doherty, age 88, a lifetime resident of La Grande, died February 20, 2007 at a local care facility. At the request of his family there will be no public services. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Doherty was born on February 23, 1918, the son of Dennis F. and Mary "Mamie" (Doherty) Doherty in La Grande. He graduated from La Grande High School and then worked as a clerk for the Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement. In his early years he enjoyed hunting. He and his wife belonged to the La Grande Country Club for over 20 years and enjoyed playing golf.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Doherty of La Grande; sons, Kerry Doherty of Portsmith, New Hampshire and Neil Doherty of Tri-Cities, Washington; brother, Dennis Doherty of Pendleton and other relatives and friends. He was preceded by a daughter, Dixie Ann Doherty.
