Charles Franklin Creel

Charles Franklin Creel, age 78, of La Grande, died December 2, 2014 in Boise, Idaho. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.

Charles was born on December 24, 1935, the son of Johnny Elbert and Ora Belle (Moody) Creel in Ovett, Mississippi. on August 9, 1955 he enlisted in the United States Army. On July 18, 1959 he married Linda Carol Monroe in Las Vegas. He was honorably discharged on July 31, 1963. In 1967 they moved to La Grande where he worked as an equipment operator for the Union Pacific Railroad for 42 years. He also managed rental properties. He enjoyed gardening, restoring old cars, working on tractors and other equipment. He was always helping neighbors with whatever needed fixing. He loved old trains and watched videos on trains for hours on end.

Survivors include his children, Melinda Jones of La Grande, Janet Creel of La
Grande, C. Wade Creel of Sand Hollow, Idaho Carol Hernandez of Meridian, Idaho and Jeffrey Creel of Boise, Idaho; 19 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda on April 9, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Elbert Creel Jr., Hazel Carlisle and Tim Creel.

Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Oregon Cancer Society.
