Charles Britain, age 75 of La Grande died Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at his home after a long illness. There will be a private family memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Charles Britain was born on December 5, 1930, the son of Frank and Anna (Basher) Britain in Pendleton, Oregon. Charles served in the United States Army and on June 19, 1950, Charles married Grace Wilson in Pendleton, Oregon. Together the couple raised four children. Charles worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 37 years. He was a member of the Eagles and the Elks Lodge. Charles loved fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family. He had a lot of friends and family and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Britain of La Grande; children and their spouses, Cathy Gibson of Sheridan, Oregon, Ruth and Rob Durlin of Roseburg, Oregon, Becky and Ron Conant of Hermiston, Oregon and Marty Quittschreiber of Meacham, Oregon; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Patty Massy of Hermiston and Edna Peterson of Pendleton, Oregon and a brother, Virgil Britain of Aberdeen, Washington.
His parents, brothers, Frank Britain, Gene Britain, Jack Britain; sisters, Ruth Hoover, Marie Blakely and a granddaughter, Jennifer Grace Quittscheiber all preceded him in death.
