Charles Lee "Chuck" Bartlett, 63, of Pilot Rock and formerly of Union County, died Jan. 6 at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton.

Charles was born Nov. 29, 1947, to James D. and Nina M. (Lovan) Bartlett in La Grande. He spent the early years of his life in Elgin. When he was 12 years old, the family moved to Pilot Rock. He was a 1966 graduate of Pilot Rock High School. He was a laborer at Louisiana Pacific until the strike in 1982.
He attended Blue Mountain College where he earned his associate degree in arts. He was employed with the Pendleton School District and Fleetwood Trailers.
He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for pottery, hunting, fishing, camping, mushrooming and sharing his knowledge with his children.
He is survived by six children, Cori L. Bartlett-Blosser and her husband, David, of Wellsville, Ohio, Deborah M. Bartlett-Curtis and her husband, Roger, of Enterprise, Kimberly D. Bartlett-Miller of Pendleton, Jennifer E. Bartlett of Pendleton, James D. Bartlett, and Mica Jo Bartlett and her husband, James, of Pilot Rock; sisters, Betty R. Poulson and Beverly J. Kennedy and her husband, Richard, of Pendleton; 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; older brother, James W. Bartlett; sister-in-law, Marjorie Bartlett; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Poulson.
