Charles Frederick Barnett, age 70, died Friday, November 4, 2005 at his home in Union. A memorial service will be held Monday, November 7, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cove. A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon.

Mr. Charles Fredrick Barnett was born November 7,
1934, the son of Leonard and Lela Barnett (Land) in
Elgin. The family moved from Elgin to Pumpkin Ridge
shortly after he was born. Then the family moved to
Cove. He graduated from Cove High School in 1952. He
worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for several
years then was drafted in the United States Army. He served his country for three years then went back to work for the Railroad. In 1970, he settled in Union and lived there for the rest of his days.
On July 23, 1960 he married Heilda Jeanne Carter and
had five children over the span of 13 years. He
divorced her and a few years later married Ida Mae
Parish and together the couple were married for 28 years. They had one child.
Mr. Barnett retired from the Railroad after 46 years
of service and started spending time doing what he
loved most - hunting, fishing, and visiting family and
friends.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Barnett, sisters Rosetta Fulk, Betty Blaylock, and Mary Doramus and his brothers Walter Barnett, Jim Barnett, Joe Barnett, and John Barnett and his children Edward Barnett, Robert Barnett, Leah Barnett, Leila Mattox, Michelle Verbout, Tennille Parish and his dog Pacco.
