Charles Otto Anderson

May 16, 1916 — October 18, 2003

Charles Otto Anderson, formerly of La Grande, Oregon, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Saturday, October 18, 2003 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born to Charles Weaver Anderson and Clara Belle Day on May 16, 1916 in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. Married Betty Jo Sillivan January 1, 1946, in Weiser, Idaho.

After serving in the 821st Aviation Engineer Battalion in the Pacific Theatre during WWII, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a brakeman and conductor in eastern Oregon from 1936 to 1980. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints La Grande Fourth Ward. He served with his wife as a temple worker in both the Seattle and Boise LDS Temples from 1983 to 1986. He was known for his gentle demeanor, his sense of humor and his willingness to pick up a "quick nine."

Survived by his children; David (Beverly) Anderson of Sandy, Utah; Becky (Mike) Solano of Selah, Washington; and Cynthia (Craig) Wellesley of Pleasant Grove, Utah; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Tuesday, October 21, in Sandy, Utah at the Willow Creek LDS Stake Center and on Thursday, October 23 at 11:00 AM at the Island City LDS Chapel, 11206 McAlister Lane, Island City, Oregon. Dedication of the grave and interment will follow at the Grandview Cemetery in La Grande, Oregon.
