Chad Michael Hickey

A memorial service for La Grande native Chad Michael Hickey, 28, of Eugene will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at Jasper Park near Springfield. A potluck will follow.

Mr. Hickey died July 31, 2006 in Eugene. He was born October 17, 1977, in La Grande, the son of Jim and Wanda Hickey. He grew up in La Grande, graduating from La Grande High School in 1995. In high school he was a standout soccer player and playerd several other sports. His family said he was a "solid, compassionate provider, amazing father and husband, golf legend and soccer star, and that he was loyal, dedicated, willing, loving and generous."

He is survived by his wife, Miriam and son Kellen; parents, Jim and Kaye Hickey of Corvallis and Wanda and Larry Shaw of Wenatchee, Washington; siblings and step-siblings, Nick Hickey of Eugene, Curt Dellwo of Spokane, Dan Shaw of Portland, Nathan Shaw of Olympia, Washington, Mandy Cline of Newberg and Carolyn Kramer of Seattle; grandparents, James and Helen Peters of La Grande and Pat and Charlotte Rankin of La Grande; and numerous other relatives.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Chad Hickey Memorial Fund, Oregon Community Credit Union, PO Box 77002, Eugene, Oregon 97404-0145. The fund was set up to help provide for his wife and son.
