Celena H. Ruckman, 92, of La Grande, died March 8 at a local care center. A celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at 1508 7th Street with Pastor Elmer Yoder of the Cove United Methodist Church officiating.

Mrs. Ruckman was born October 17, 1911 to Edward and Indah Burns Lane in Clear Lake, Oklahoma. She attended school in Siloam Springs, Oklahoma and married Ernest Gann. The couple moved to Prineville in the mid-1930's, then in 1941 to Vancouver, Washington, where her husband joined the Merchant Marines. They moved to Arkansas in 1945 and later back to Oregon. After his death she married Clark Ruckman in 1984 at the Union County Senior Center. She was a member of a knitting club in Cove, and enjoyed traveling, gardening, crochet and rock collecting.

Survivors include children and their spouses, Carol and Wayne Stephens of Cove and Kay piper of El Cajon, California; a step-son, Mike Ruckman of La Grande; sisters, Lucille Graves of Vancouver and Geneva Baggs of Portland; a brother, Calvin Lane of Vancouver; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and other relatives. A brother and her second husband both died earlier.
