Cecil Edward Mecham, 91, of Summerville, died July 16 at his home. His funeral will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Loveland Funeral Chapel. Cecil was born June 26, 1919, to Gray Morris and Florence Geneva Mecham in Boise. He graduated from Boise High School and enlisted in the Navy, attending Military Metal Smithing School at Norfolk, Va. He was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving his country and flag in the Asian theater.

Cecil married Hazel Augusta Sheppard on May 11, 1942, in Perth, Western Australia. After the war they moved with son, LeRay, to San Francisco. After retiring, they moved to the Grande Ronde Valley where his best friend and hero, LeRay Wilson of Cove, came from.

Those who knew Cecil say he was a true patriot who loved the armed forces. He loved hunting, fishing and motorcycle drag racing. He enjoyed farming and metal and wood craft and helped many in the community.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Viola Mecham, and brother, Cliff Mecham.
